Dave chose me to revitalize its product system, HoneyOS—my charge: overhaul the app’s visual design system to align with the new direction of Dave’s brand identity.
As the Director of Design Platforms reporting directly to the VP of Design, I led a team of design specialists with expertise in branding, design systems, marketing design, and motion through the cross-functional task of bringing Dave’s app into a new phase of its design language. Dave comprises four distinct pillars—research, product design, design platform, and operations; we were positioned to see an immediate impact on its customer-facing surfaces in all four pillars as a function of advancing the visual design system.
Co-Directing the Product Design team, we defined bespoke interactions for the app, employing branded touchpoints and thoughtful UI/UX design to clearly communicate key information and to increase the ease of understanding of Dave’s offerings. Mid-2022, we successfully redesigned the Dave App experience to be light, open, and de-cluttered.
In collaboration with the Product Director and Engineering Managers, we also established a high-level product evolution roadmap, highlighting how Dave would mature from its esoteric, startup-style product design and development processes into an elegant engineering and visual design platform over time. Importantly, we also established core components, resource documentation, and an efficient method of auditing deployment iterations to support the talent and culture of our engineering team.
